Searching for Evidence
Introduction
This section will help you use databases to find research evidence. This is a skill you need in order to meet the learning outcomes for the practice learning awards. Research evidence should inform your own practice as facilitator of practice learning and you must be able to help learners do so too.
There are thousands upon thousands of articles and reports out there and it is a real skill to find just the ones you are looking for. Having a good search strategy can help you avoid the irrelevant material and home in on the most relevant. You will find lots of useful tips here and signposts to other resources. This section will also give you the opportunity to undertake a literature search on the NHS Scotland e-Library and compare your results with ours. In order to do this you need to register. This is free for everyone working in social care. To register you should visit http://www.elib.scot.nhs.uk/portal/elib/pages/index.aspx. They will send you a username and password.
